At a time that other parts of the world are becoming increasingly interested in the intellectual artefacts of the global African world, the Academic Research Committee of the Tejumola Olaniyan Foundation will take a global view and focus its funding on research that takes the complexity of the African continent seriously and advances our knowledge one place, one movement, one idea, one process, including the interconnecting forces at play over the long term. This departs from the dominant and more common approaches that almost treat Africa as a gross unit with limited attention paid to the heterogeneities and heterodoxies that mark the continent.
